The Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 80 external SSD is Kingston's first innovative OS-independent, hardware-encrypted external SSD with a touchscreen for data protection. The VP80ES safeguards against Brute Force attacks and BadUSB threats using digitally signed firmware. Its Brute Force attack protection cryptographically erases the drive if the Admin and User passwords are entered incorrectly 15 times in a row (default setting). The drive is FIPS 197 certified, uses XTS-AES 256-bit encryption driven by a Common Criteria EAL5+ certified secure microprocessor, and is TAA-compliant.

Using it is as intuitive as unlocking a smartphone, complete with simple drag-and-drop file transfers. Designed to secure data while remaining user-friendly, the VP80ES features a color touchscreen and multi-password capability (Admin and User) with PIN or Passphrase modes, making it significantly more secure than relying on internet or cloud services to safeguard your files.

Whether you are handling confidential business data, client records, or high-resolution photos and videos, this drive is ideal for small and medium-sized businesses as well as content creators. It comes equipped with two USB 3.2 Gen 1 adapter cables—USB Type-C to Type-A and Type-C to Type-C—for effortless connection to computers and other devices. It is also an excellent choice for regular data backups and protection against ransomware.

The administrator can enable a User password and configure security options, such as the maximum number of attempts, password length (6–64 characters), and alphanumeric password rules. Additionally, spaces can be included, making it easier to remember a passphrase composed of a word list, a familiar quote, or lyrics from a favorite song. Alternatively, you can use a PIN pad just like on a mobile device and reduce failed login attempts by tapping the "eye" button to view the entered password.

If a user forgets their password, the administrator can use their Admin password to access the data and restore user access.
